RedLineIPS SmartPad System Installation
The RedLineIPS SmartPad System has been meticulously designed to address the prevalent issue of corrosion under pipe supports (CUPS) in industrial piping systems. The primary objectives of this system encompass:
- CUPS Mitigation: Protecting piping systems from corrosion under pipe supports (CUPS).
- Efficient Installation, Removal, and Reinstallation: Simplifying the process for swift and cost-effective installation, removal, and reinstallation, thus reducing the overall cost of ownership.
- Visual Inspection: Enabling visual inspections of pipe external corrosion, offering a more economical and timely alternative to conventional methods such as radiography, ultrasound, and X-ray.
Installation Procedure
Follow your facility’s standard operating procedure (SOP) to raise the pipe 1” to 2” above its support
Clean bottom side of pipe and treat for any existing corrosion per your facility’s SOP
Place SmartBands loosely around pipe above pipe support location and insert into buckles
Insert SmartPad between pipe & SmartBands, aligning bands with pad’s grooves
Tighten SmartBands using SmartTool Banding Tensioner
Cut off excess banding using SmartTool’s built-in cutting tool

Speed of Installation
The RedLineIPS SmartPad System redefines efficiency in pipe external corrosion protection with its unmatched ease and speed of installation, setting it apart from conventional alternatives. In stark contrast to time-intensive methods like welding, epoxy application, or complex anchoring processes, SmartPads boast an installation time measured in seconds.
Take, for instance, the installation of epoxied-on FRP wear pads. The installation process is time-consuming, requiring 30 to 60 minutes, including touch-ups, cleanup, and inspection, even under the expertise of seasoned installers. Contractors commonly bill 1.5 hours per pad for installation, followed by an additional 24 hours or more for epoxy cure time, contingent on factors like ambient temperature and humidity. If the pipe location is high enough to necessitate a man-lift, the costs associated with cure times multiply significantly, as installers will require access to that location a second time. In stark contrast, a SmartPad is swiftly installed with no cure time required. Notably, the success of alternative solutions heavily relies on the installer’s knowledge and experience, whereas minimal training ensures successful SmartPad installation. Once a SmartPad is in place, it remains installed, reflecting a commitment to efficiency and simplicity.
In general, the RedLineIPS SmartPad System delivers robust external corrosion protection to piping systems without the need for cure time or touch-up work, as it excludes epoxy usage. The self-sealing Hydroseal gasket further mitigates the risk of installation errors, enhancing safety, efficiency, and reliability.
In the rare instance of an incorrect SmartPad installation, or if installed in the wrong location due to installer or design errors, removal and reinstallation are swift and cost-effective. This flexibility extends to scenarios requiring pad removal for visual corrosion inspections, accomplished in a matter of seconds. In contrast, once epoxy cures, epoxied-on FRP wear pads become immovable and necessitate chiseling for removal, potentially damaging the pipe. Welded metallic wear pads pose an even more daunting challenge for removal, complicating visual inspections significantly. The RedLineIPS SmartPad System not only protects pipes efficiently, but does so with a commitment to simplicity, speed, and adaptability.
The RedLineIPS SmartPad System effectively protects piping systems from external corrosion at the pipe support points (CUPS) while distinguishing itself with its exceptional ease and speed of installation, setting it apart from competitors. Unlike other solutions that involve time-consuming processes such as welding, epoxy application, or drilling into steel or concrete to anchor and secure bolts, SmartPads can be installed in mere seconds.
